Because Peter has not been documented at birth this report is not entirely trustworthy. He was probably born in PA or VA. Also Peter's father Gabriel being born in Ireland could be true but it is not documented.

Apparently G.W. learned milling from his father Joseph of SC so maybe the family tradition could have included millers, perhaps back to Gabriel.

G.W.'s father Joseph was apparently a Quaker (as i believe all the Phillips ancestors to have been).  --DP
